Biography —
Bumju Jung (he/him/his; MA University of Kansas) is a PhD student at the University of Southern California, Annenberg School. Bumju’s research is focused on bridging two different communication fields, human-machine communication and political communication. Specifically, his research seeks to scrutinize how humans are influenced by the political messages generated among autonomous machines, such as social bots, and how it reshapes both on and offline public spheres in terms of the machines’ intervention into public opinion. While he pursues a path to become a theorist to discover timely and salient research agendas, he wants to contribute to resolving various social issues through computational social science approaches.
