Biography —
Cameron W. Piercy (Ph.D., he/him/his) is an associate professor in Communication Studies at the University of Kansas (KU). He researches, teaches, and consults on how self-other dynamics shape perception (including cognitive biases) in organizations and how social networks are reshaped through the use of new technologies. At KU, he founded the Human-Machine Communication lab and teaches courses on Social Network Analysis, Problem Solving in Teams and Groups, and Communication and the Internet. His recent research is found in popular press (Forbes, Science Daily) and academic journals (Mobile Media & Communication, Journal of Applied Communication Research).
In past roles, Cameron has been a DJ at a skating rink, a phone repairs manager, and a professor in the Harmon College of Business at the University of Central Missouri. In his spare time, he enjoys riding bikes, jet skiing, and hanging out with his partner, nine-year-old son, and two dogs, Cookie and Colt.
